Scope of service of
gastroenterology and endoscopy department in PSAFHM
The department offer the
following services
It Provides optimal high-quality
gastroenterology and hepatology services for in-patient and out-patient
section of prince sultan armed forces
hospital medina as follow:
- Inpatient care: The
Gastroenterology unit will provide high quality care to the admitted patients
in medical and non-medical wards.
- Emergency room:
gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy department Will provide to patients
24 hours a day, 7 days a week by the on- call teams in Gastroenterology, and
Hepatology which will be covered by fellow/registrar and consultant.
- OP care:
Gastroenterology and endoscopy department will provide a high quality
gastroenterology and hepatology care
for PSAFHM patients who seek gastroenterology and hepatology OP
services. The outpatient clinic is run by a consultant provides care to
out-patients in the following days (Sunday-Monday-Wednesday and Thursday)
Saturday to Tuesday (8 am to 12 pm(
- Inpatient service:
Admitting patients who need inpatient gastroenterology and /or hepatology
services - Consultation to all other hospital departments: provide
gastroenterology and hepatology consultation covered by assigned staff to all
other hospital departments.
- Endoscopy service:
Gastroenterology and hepatology department Provides high quality endoscopic
services to PSAFHM patients who will need endoscopic services.
The
department provide the following endoscopic service on current time:
.1diagnostic upper GI
endoscopic services
.2therapeutic upper GI
endoscopic service (EVL-Injection for bleeding petic ulcer-APC for GAVE,
vascular telangectasias and APC for bleeding peptic ulcer, obtain biopsies from
upper GI tracts, gastric polyp removal, PEG applicarion, endo clipping).
.3Diagnostic
colonoscopy service which includes biopsies intake if needed.
.4therapeutic
colonoscopy (polypectomy- control of diverticular bleeding, EMR, control of
post polypectomy bleeding, endo-clipping)

upper and lower GI tracts.
